The People In The Picture
Amanda has been asked and offered the swing track for the Broadway new musical The People In The Picture. Reuniting with Bring It On choreographer and director Andy Blankenbuehler, Amanda could not be more excited. It is running as a limited engagement at the famous Studio 54 Theatre until June 19th. You can purchase tickets here.
Two time Tony® Award-winner Donna Murphy (Passion, The King and I) stars in The People in the Picture, directed by Leonard Foglia. This new Broadway musical features book & lyrics by the author of the international best seller Beaches, Iris Rainer Dart, and a glorious score by Mike Stoller(Smokey Joe’s Café) and Artie Butler (“Here’s to Life”).
“Once the darling of the Yiddish Theatre in pre-war Poland, now a grandmother in New York City, Bubbie (Murphy) has had quite a life. But what will it all mean if she can’t pass on her stories to the next generation? Though her granddaughter is enchanted by her tales, her daughter Red will do anything to keep from looking back. A fiercely funny and deeply moving new musical that spans three generations, The People in the Picture celebrates the importance of learning from our past, and the power of laughter.”
How they Offered you to serve as a swing?
I was! The show was a limited engagement, and I was brought in when the original swing had to leave. It was the shortest contract ever! We closed on June 19th, but I am so happy I got a chance to be a part of the show and even got a chance to go on! I mean, Donna Murphy is incredible!
Is it Fun for you to be in the show?
It was so much fun. Incredible cast, beautiful story…pretty remarkable experience.
What Is It Like for you to work with Donna Murphy.
I don’t think there is a classier star. Donna Murphy has been the most gracious, talented, and kind hearted person I have ever had the opportunity to share a stage with. She always makes sure that everyone feels included, she is as professional as they come, and welcomed me into the cast with open arms. I hope I get to work with her again!
How many performances that the show has played.
What Is Your Next Broadway musical role?
Nothing for certain yet…many irons in the fire at all times though
I Was Wondering that you should perform in the ensemble & u/s Sophie in the national tour of Mamma Mia.
